Snowed In

underneath the skies of gray
layered drifts
they blow away
the windblown trees
are burdened and sway
the snow drifts
and the new day
cowered down beneath blankets
the warmth of the heat
a fogged window
icicles gleaming
condensation streaming
it’s cold outside
our souls in God
and in one another abide

Job 37:5-7

"God thunders marvelously with His voice;
He does great things which we cannot comprehend.
For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth’;
Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength.
He seals the hand of every man,
That all men may know His work."

The New King James Version. Nashville : Thomas Nelson, 1982, S. Job 37:5-7

Prayer

"O God, in the course of this busy life, give us times of refreshment and peace; and grant that we may so use our leisure to rebuild our bodies and renew our minds, that our spirits may be opened to the goodness of your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen (BCP, p. 825).”
