“The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.” –John 1:5

Hierophany

Facing into a new night
Darkness
Did not comprehend
The Light
Facing into a new Light

Facing into a new Light
Light
Did not comprehend
The Darkness
Facing into a new night

    1. Thank you Brian! I think we do both. . . but the darkness is never too dark and the light is always bright enough. . .

  2. Being a former fan of Mircea Eliade, "hierophany" is a word that rang old bells of sweet idealism. I once understood the light but now understood the dark as far more light than I understood.
    Interesting turn of the poem.

  3. Nice interpretation of John's Prologue. I like the contrast between the experience of light and darkness. The photo works well, too.

  4. i like it... it is difficult for us, immersed in our own reality as we are, to see the world from a viewpoint far different from our own
