“The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not
understood it.” –John 1:5
Hierophany
Facing into a new night
Darkness
Did not comprehend
The Light
Facing into a new Light
Facing into a new Light
Light
Did not comprehend
The Darkness
Facing into a new night

do we blame the dark for being too dark...or the light for not being bright enough?
ReplyDeletesmiles.
Thank you Brian! I think we do both. . . but the darkness is never too dark and the light is always bright enough. . .
DeleteBeing a former fan of Mircea Eliade, "hierophany" is a word that rang old bells of sweet idealism. I once understood the light but now understood the dark as far more light than I understood.
ReplyDeleteInteresting turn of the poem.
Thanks for reading and for connecting with the term. . .
DeleteNice interpretation of John's Prologue. I like the contrast between the experience of light and darkness. The photo works well, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for enjoying it. I just pointed to what was there. . . the photo is by a friend of mine. I think it's the best part of the post.
Deletei like it... it is difficult for us, immersed in our own reality as we are, to see the world from a viewpoint far different from our own
ReplyDeleteIndeed. . .seeing, we do not see. . . .
Deletewhat they all said ;-)
ReplyDeletecontrast really isn't contrast at all...
Thank you for reading and seeing. . .
DeleteA different kind of mirror...contrast and shadows and light. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading!
